Looking for something to do tomorrow? Check out the Boston New Urban Mechanics/CfA Code-a-thon.
Boston is one of the most livable cities in the United States. People come from all over the world to experience Boston’s walkable neighborhoods and lively local culture. However, Mayor Thomas M. Menino knows that there is still much that should be done to innovate in how we deliver services and provide information to the public about the City.
To this end, the Mayor Menino’s innovation team, the Office of New Urban Mechanics, is partnering with Code for America to host a code-a-thon that encourages hackers and makers of all types to come together to build tools, visualizations, and apps that enable more people to experience more of the City. Come help us build Boston.
The Challenge for the day will be to create tools that enable people from a wide variety of backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, physical ability, age, etc to access the diverse opportunities that the City affords.
When: October 22, 2011, 9am - 9pm
Where: Boston University, School of Management, 4th floor, Room 424
To register, visit: http://buildingboston.eventbrite.com/
